Government Introduces New Startup Tax Relief

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Government of Pakistan has unveiled a three-year startup support policy designed to spark innovation and accelerate digital exports. Registered companies in fintech, SaaS, healthtech, logistics automation, AI, cybersecurity, and e-commerce can now qualify for 0% income tax, subsidized office utilities, and access to international payment gateways like Stripe and PayPal alternatives. Qualified startups will receive federal R&D grants aimed at building AI-driven automation, biotech research, and blockchain-based financial security tools. The government will also establish innovation zones in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad with co-working labs and mentorship from global investors. Venture capital firms from Dubai and Singapore have already signaled interest. Experts predict job creation across engineering, UI/UX, dev-ops, and sales, potentially reducing youth unemployment significantly by 2028. Critics worry bureaucratic delays may slow implementation, but the IT ministry assures digital applications will eliminate paperwork bottlenecks. This policy could position Pakistan as a fast-rising digital competitor within South Asia, boost exports from $3B to $7B annually, and attract major foreign accelerator programs. For young founders struggling with taxes, transaction blocks, and infrastructure issues, this relief package finally offers the breakthrough they’ve been waiting for.
