Ducky Bhai granted bail after three-month custody in gambling-app case

On 24 November 2025, the Lahore High Court granted post-arrest bail to Saad Ur Rehman—popularly known as Ducky Bhai—who had been detained since his arrest at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on 17 August. The case, filed by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), accuses him of promoting un-licensed online gambling and betting applications via his YouTube channel, invoking sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code.
Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry approved bail against surety bonds worth Rs 1 million and commented that outright denial of bail in such cases is “unusual” as per Supreme Court precedent.
The court noted that although the case is still under investigation—focusing on alleged video promotions (27 links were cited), and financial traces in his accounts—the interim relief allows Ducky Bhai to be released while legal proceedings continue.
This development is significant in Pakistan’s growing oversight of digital influencers and online content promotion. It raises detailed questions about influencer liability, platform regulation, youth-targeted marketing of gambling, and the enforcement capacity of digital crime agencies. For Rehman, the bail is only one milestone: the substantive case still awaits final resolution.
